I have successfully attempted multiple Installations of Linux (Mint in particular) on Dell Precision M4600, however the machine will not boot into grub or other bootmanager. when using a USB-stick (live booting system), the machine will boot from this medium.

Alternatively, can I make the SD-Card bootable and use it like an internal ssd or at least use the remaining space for /home as in a normal installation or otherwise as a live-booting medium, that is updateable and persistent?

Thanks for any help on this!
